Day 1- Departure/ Arrival

Overview: Departed from Singapore, Arrival to Guangzhou, Transit to Wuhan.

Hi everyone, I'm here in Wuhan right now after taking two times of flight. It's about 6 degree now.

This morning, woke up quite early, got myself prepared and my dad sent us to the airport at about 4.40am. Everyone of us met at Terminal 1 Row 12 and checked-in after that.

Bid goodbye to my parents and sister once last time and proceeded in with the departure.

Didn't managed to get a family photo today so I'll post one of those that I've taken last December at Shanghai.

We took group photos as usual.

BYE SINGAPORE! We took China Southern Airline to Guangzhou at 8am. Reached Guangzhou at 12pm and waited for the transit plane to Wuhan. SoonLing, WeiQin, Ron, Daryl and I went around exploring the airport and grab a bite.

At Guangzhou airport, walking to the area for the transit.

A fruit store found inside the airport.

It is how amazing and amusing that they could sell fruits openly out in an open space in the airport. I felt that this is quite interesting as this site is rarely seen in airports even in other states of China that I've been before, not even in Singapore Changi Airport. Frankly, I think that this has displayed the natural site of China, whereby, food are sold on any road side out of nowhere.

Finally, after 1 hour or so of flight, we saw the land of Wuhan. The plane landed at about 5plus pm.

A group of student union from the Wuhan University came to pick us up at the airport. Took a 40 minutes bus journey from the airport to the hostel. After which, the students over there were so helpful that they volunteered to carry our heavy luggages for us even up to our rooms although it's our first time meeting them. I appreciated their help :D.

We had a meeting time and were separated into groups to buy our daily necessities at the nearby supermarket and also, take away MacDonald as our dinner with the assigned China student leaders.
Plastic bags are needed to be bought from the supermarket. Because of the past few experiences to China, knowing that they are practicing the environmentally friendly campaign, WeiQin and I brought the recycled bags from Singapore. They are able to use just in time.
Protecting the Earth is part of our job and we ought to practice this campaign not only in Singapore, but also in other countries.

Here's a quick preview of the hostel room:

Squat toilets; no more seated ones.

REFLECTION:
Singapore is our homeland; this is where we belong.

We ought to appreciate our homeland when one is at overseas and that we should uphold the right image of our country by demonstrating the correct attitude to what we are doing.

The students were so heartwarming that they offered us all the help we need such as carrying our luggage and shopping grocery bags. I personally feel that we should learn to volunteer to help people when they are in need and share the joy with everyone else. Hence, all these helps are really appreciated.
