Day 36- Free and Easy

Hi everyone, the weather is the same for today.

It was a free and easy day today. Hence, we decided to set off early in the afternoon since it will be the last few days we are in Wuhan. Taking 588 to 江汉路, we went to the Bank of China before heading to shopping.

Packed bus.

Pets are allowed on the bus. We can even eat on the bus too!
Bank of China

The ATM machine that could draw money out using our Singapore card. We will be charged 30% of the amount we draw out per 100rmb.

Exchange rates.

A cash-to-cash (SGD to RMB) service.

As it was still early, we decided to take a bus to 汉正街 that was researched by Cynthia and LingLi, which is a street across 江汉路. However, to our disappointment, most of the stores were closing at a timing of 5pm.

汉正街

Walking along the streets, have our shopping spree, we decided to try out a new transportation back to 江汉路步行街. It was called mamu (麻木), a taxi service at a negotiable price. After negotiation, we had a ride that cost 8rmb for 2 person. It was a new experience. The trip was rocky and both of us held tight for the first few moments until we got used to it. LingLi and I started to have a conversation with the driver along our way there and we found out quite alot of things from him. 汉正街 was considered a wholesale centre for both guys and girls.

The stores at 江汉路步行街 were opened at around 6pm and so, we headed our way into the familiar 'pasam malam'. Hearing familiar English accent, familiar talking tone and style, I looked back beside the store. To my surprise, I saw my business finance classmates. They were there in Wuhan too.
Menu of KFC that could not be found in Singapore.

The EE students, my business finance lecture mates.

Reflection:
The amazing situation that I saw happening within the bank area is that despite Bank of China is a big organization that upholds a good reputation, illegal activities were not strictly restricted in the bank itself. There were some locals carrying out illegal exchange of cash for foreigners in the bank in front of the workers in the bank. They offered higher exchange rates and told us that they would draw the money out immediately from the ATM machine in the bank. However, we felt that it was not safe as there were cases of fake notes happening around in China. In China, I think that their people have much more freedom to what they can do as long as they are not being caught. The people were chased out by the security but still managed to come back in again with the witness of the bank workers. Not much effort of chasing was done until they were really seen harassing the customers of the bank.
